Brussel-Sproutscooking demo

Exciting News! Cooking Demonstration at the Market this Saturday
Many of our stallholders have wonderful recipes and knowledge about how to cook
the produce they grow. This week Birgit Priebs of Sunshine Orchards will be
demonstrating how to cook a special German recipe using Brussel Sprouts.

Saturday – 3 sessions – 10am, 11am and 12 noon.

With wine matching and free wine tasting from Byrne Vineyard
“Bed of Roses” is a traditional German dish Birfit’s granny used to make
incorporating Brussel Sprouts, parsley potatoes and mince sticks in a delicious
sauce.

All products used in the demo have been sourced, and can be found at the Market.
Look out for the RED DOTS on the stalls involved – these stallholders will also have
specials available!!!
Brussels sprouts are now in season. They are surprisingly high in protein for a green
vegetable, and just one serving would meet your needs for vitamin C and vitamin K
for the day.

Brussels sprouts are a part of the cruciferous vegetable family, which also includes
the nutritional powerhouses kale, broccoli, cauliflower, cabbage and collard greens,
all of which supply loads of nutrients for a small amount calories. If you are trying to
improve your diet, cruciferous vegetables should be at the very top of your grocery
list.
